The Tireless Project Sets Dates for Tire Collection
The Tireless Project, initiated and coordinated by a group of Peoria volunteers, is designed to rid our neighborhoods of unwanted tires. In collaboration with the City of Peoria and Peoria Disposal Company, the focus of the project is to provide a FREE regular drop-off site for tires that need to be disposed of or have been illegally dumped in neighborhoods.
Collections are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every fourth Saturday of the month until the end of September 2015. Dates from October to December will be determined according to weather conditions. The drop-off will be at 2301 S. Darst St., with volunteers on-site to assist with the tires. If tires are left after the designated hours, a $200 fine for littering will be enforced.
Restrictions include:
Only City of Peoria residents can participate; no businesses will be allowed.
Customers must have proof of residency either in the form of a driver’s license, state ID or property tax statement.
No tires with rims will be accepted.
Only passenger and light truck tires will be accepted; no oversized tires, including agricultural and commercial, will be accepted.
The limit is 20 tires per customer; this is a legal requirement for transporting tires.
The volunteers of The Tireless Project thank you for helping us keep pride in Peoria’s neighborhoods. For more information on The Tireless Project, please contact Julie Eliathamby Ryan at julieeliathamby@gmail.com, 309-363-3200, or Kathy Burdette at 309-472-6560.
