Yes, it was cold in January but not as cold
as Minneapolis.
Yes, it was icy in February but we
knew that tulips and crocus were
just around the corner unlike Maine
which had no such vision.
We know that May and June will mean
mowers and Creeping Charlie but we will be
in shorts and t-shirts unlike Fargo which will
still be shoveling out.
Of course July will be beastly hot but unlike
Miami we won’t have fire ants.
September will bring golden and magenta
leaves by the bushels to rake but all Los
Angeles has are palm trees, year round.
By October our gardens will be shutting down
and we will begin to pile up firewood and
bring out the crockpot unlike Mexico where
gardening chores go on endlessly month after
month with no relief.
…and yes, more snow will fall in December
and the shovels and snowblowers will
reappear, but all in all, this is one nice place
to live. Right?
